This is my Focus T25 Workout Review Day 5 Lower Focus: I knew today’s workout schedule was going to be tricky to manage.  Friday’s are scheduled for double workouts.  I did manage to do a Lower Focus in the afternoon, and planned to do the second workout in the evening.  On the T25 schedule it doesn’t mention that if you can’t do the double workout on Friday you can do one on Saturday or Sunday to make up for it.  However, I had some plans that came up in the evening… Come on it’s Friday night =)

So I will have to make up the second workout tomorrow.

Lower Focus is all about legs.  We do tons of squats, and calf-raise exercises in this workout.  My legs were definitely burning in this routine.  I know one thing for sure is that I will definitely have toned legs after finishing the T25 program.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to jump a little higher too!  I feel pretty good that I’m almost done with week 1 of the T25 program.  Can’t fall of the routine this time.  Gotta stay focused!

This workout will definitely get your heart pumping, because your legs are large muscles and they are going to be getting a solid workout.  Once again, no equipment required, and just 25 minutes as promised.  Not much else to report today.  I did manage to eat healthy with a oatmeal and banana in the morning, protein shake for lunch and some sushi rolls for dinner.  Alright, gotta get some rest and ready for tomorrow.

This is my Focus T25 Workout Review Day 4 Ab Intervals: . The first 3 days of the T25 workout schedule for me was overcoming physical obstacles… being sore, being out of shape, and having low energy.  But day 4 of the Focus T25 was the mental challenge.  I’ll be honest I was not motivated at all to workout.  My mind was playing games with me… trying to think of ways to give me a way out from not workout out.  But, I fought the urge to be lazy and not do the workout.  But, I kept telling myself…. “Come on…it’s only 25 minutes!”  So I dragged my butt into the small home gym and pushed play.  T25 #pushplay as they say.  So I’m not sure if you’re following this journey or can relate, but I appreciate you taking a few minutes to read this post.  So here is my Focus T25 review.

Today’s workout was all about abs.  Yup major core exercises, but no traditional crunches here.  The Focus T25 Ab workout was a combination of plank moves, V-Ups, and oblique exercises.  The movements are slow and controlled.  Shaun T tells you to Focus on “Form” and not necessary speed.

We also worked on the lower-back and did some super man drills.  This is basically when you lie on your belly and lift your arms and legs up tightening your lower back like you’re flying like Superman.

In this workout we also do some quick running in place drills to add some light cardio.  We also did some squats to mix things up.  I say the hardest part about this workout is the mental toughness.  You’re body wants to shut-down, but you have to keep telling yourself to push through.

What helped me was periodically glancing at the countdown timer on the screen.  I kept telling myself only 15 minutes left… okay only 10 more minutes…. 5 minutes to go.

25 minutes does go by pretty quickly and I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I finish.

Once again, no equipment was required… except comfortable shoes and small 5 x 5 feet workout space.  As for my daily nutrition, I ate scrambled eggs for breakfast (cholesterol free) and drank water.  I had a grilled chicken sandwhich on multigrain bread.  It was tough because I really wanted to eat a burger with fries today.

For dinner I ate El Pollo Loco chicken with corn tortilla and side salad.  Today was definitely a mental tough game.  My soreness is actually get better… or maybe I’m just getting use to it.

Tomorrow is double workout Friday!  Not sure how I can accomplish this.  I think I will have to squeeze a workout in the morning and then later that afternoon.  Or maybe just go for the entire hour.   Yikes!  But, after that I get the weekend to relax.

Just focusing on one day at a time.  Hopefully I will be writing my journal entry of day 60!  Thanks for checking out my review of T25 day 4.  I also signed up for a free Team Beachbody account.  It’s pretty exciting because this Spring they are planning to release an online streaming membership program where you can all of the Beachbody workout programs for a monthly subscription.  This will be great because you won’t have to worry about DVD’s anymore and you can stream the videos on your phone, laptop, computer, or tablet.  It will definitely make working out when you travel easier.

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 3 Total Body Circuit

This is my Focus T25 Workout Review Day 3 Total Body Circuit: .The phrase of the day is “Be careful what you ask for!”  The blogging gods must have heard me because yesterday in my T25 day 2 review I was concerned that I wasn’t getting upper body and strength training from T25.  Well, Shaun T saved the hard stuff for Day 3 Total Body Circuit training.  This workout definitely kicked my butt.  I was starting to wonder why day 2 speed workout had more stretching in the routine.  Today I realized that T25 was just prepping your body for today.

I am definitely still sore from the workouts, but I must say that my energy level is increasing and I’m sleeping better.  I’ve had to stretch out throughout the day because my muscles are still really tight from the past 2 day workouts.  I haven’t been able to keep up with the people on the screen yet.  I’m still focusing on the modified moves that Tanya provides.  My goal was not to be superman on week 1, but rather help get my body use to the routine of working out and getting exposure to the workout routines.

Don’t get me wrong the modified moves definitely kicked my butt, but I know if I had gone 100% and tried to keep up with Shaun T on day 1 and day 2, I wouldn’t have made it to day 3.  I did however challenged my body some more today, but following some of the unmodified movements.  Okay enough about me… let’s talk about the Total Body Circuit workout.

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 3 Total Body Circuit

The Total Body Circuit workout is definitely what it is.  Shaun T focuses on working your legs, core, and upper body in this routine.  He added push-ups, planks, into this workout routine.  My upper body hadn’t been challenged up to this point, so it was definitely a body shock when he asked me to do several push-ups in each set.  My shoulders and chest were burning!  But, no pain no gain right?!

In this workout he continues to have you do squats and lunges.  I know for a fact that I’m going to have rock solid legs after finishing T25.  Total Body Circuit felt like a combination of Cardio and Speed 1.0.  He also incorporated the punch routines into today’s workout as well, which included jabs and hooks.

A new move that Shaun T introduced was the “Burpie” a movement that has you move from a standing position into a push-up plank position.  This move took some getting use to and if not careful can put some strain on your wrist.  Thus, do the movements slowly at first to train your body.

I definitely suggest doing the movements slow at first, but keeping proper form.  I have injured myself in the past doing the “Insanity” workout at full-speed when my body wasn’t use to it.  I learned my lesson into easing into this workout routine.  My goal is to stick to the Focus T25 schedule on a daily basis and keep improving little by little each day.

Still no equipment is required for this workout and no real stretching warm-ups.  I definitely took 5 minutes on my own to completely stretch out before I pushed the play button.  I also took the time to do the 3 minute cool down routine at the end of this Total Body Circuit workout because I know that I will be sore tomorrow.

I continued to watch what I ate throughout the day.  My breakfast consisted of a banana, a protein bar.  For lunch I had an omelet with mushrooms.  For dinner I’m eating chicken breast with vegetable soup.  I’m not quite sure if this is what is outlined in the T25 Nutrition guide, but I am staying away from fast food and soda.

I’ve also tried to cut down on my sugar intake and only limited myself to a half cup of coffee.  In the past, I tried to follow the programs to the “T” which included me taking measurements, tracking my calories and such, but all of that only overwhelmed me and eventually I stopped working out.  This time around, I decided to just Focus on completing the workout each day and making good eating decisions.  Alright, made it through the 3rd down.  Looking forward to day 4 of Focus T25!

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 2 Speed 1.0

This is my Focus T25 Workout Review Day 2 Speed 1.0: . So today I completed day 2 of T25.  It was extremely difficult to start my workout today.  I was very surprised at how sore I was since I didn’t go full speed on day 1.  I only did modified moves the entire time.  My body is definitely not use to the various movements that Shaun T has me doing in these workouts.  T25 requires a lot of hopping, jumping, bouncing, lunging, lateral movements etc.

Sad to say, my body was only use to walking up and down stairs, sitting down at my desk and sleeping.  But, no complaining, or whining.  Need to push through the pain and complete this program.  I decided to document this journey not so much for someone else out there to read, but more for me to document my journey for myself.  My goal is to finish this program 58 days from now and look back at these journal entries to see how far I’ve come.

If by chance you do come across this post and read it that you can possibly relate as you go through your own fitness journey with T25.  I’m by no means a fitness expert, nor a gym rat… I’m just a regular guy that has a fitness goal and looking for ways to get back into shape without having to leave the comfort of my home.

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 2 Speed 1.0

Alright, so day 2!  Shaun T provides a new workout routine that is very different from the first day’s video “Cardio.”  Speed 1.0 was actually a fun workout.  Shaun T included punches and incorporated some stretches into this workout.  (YES!!!)  I guess he knew that I would be really sore from yesterday’s workout so he knew that that I needed to stretch.

I stretched last night before I went to bed, stretched this morning, before and after the workout and I’m still sore.  I know that eventually the soreness will fade once my body gets use to these workout routines.  As mentioned before Speed 1.0 incorporates punching which I liked.  We did side lateral jumps that ended with uppercuts and left/right hooks.  These punches although don’t look tough they actually give you a great core workout.

The music in Speed 1.0 is actually really good.  It’s got a great beat and matches well the exercise rhythm.  We also do some fancy footwork in this routine.  Shaun T works your inner calves and thighs by having you do cross-feet moves.  There were moments in this workout where I felt like I was dancing.

So far these workouts have a lot of cardio movements.  I hope that he will incorporate some strength training and upper body exercises because I am hoping to develop some muscle definition along the way.  I had debated between doing P90X3 first or T25 first.  Although, I think P90X3 will give me the weight training that I’m looking for, I decided to start with T25 because my goal is to run a 5k race in month 2.  So I figured that T25 will help build up my leg strength and cardio endurance to handle the 5k.

This workout also did not require any equipment items.  I did purchase some foam cushion workout mats to cover my floor because I have hard wood flooring.  The cushion mats also helps reduce the stress of the frequent jumps on my legs.

I’ve been working out with running shoes, but is starting to consider that I need to workout in cross-trainers.  The side to side lateral movements need stability and support that my running shoes can’t provide.

The hardest part after the workout is to resist the urge to eat unhealthy food.  This morning I ate a scrambled egg with avocados and a multigrain flat bread.  For lunch, I had a protein shake and some almonds.  This was a challenge for me because I normal start my day with coffee and sugary cereal.  I also like to eat fast-food burgers and fries for lunch.

My doctor says I have really high cholesterol and need to change my eating habits and start exercising.  This is another reason why I started this T25 workout because of my cholesterol levels.  One thing I do notice is that I have more energy throughout the day.  I usually get sleepy by 9pm, but I had no problem staying up to 11:30pm last night.  I’ve also been forcing myself to drink more water to keep my body and muscles hydrated.

So at this point, I’m just focusing on one day at a time.  Tomorrow I am going to focus on completing day 3.  Not quite sure what Shaun T has in stored for tomorrow, but I keep telling myself… “it’s just 25 minutes.”  I survived day 2 of Focus T25 Speed 1.0.

So after clicking the publish button, I just checked to see what was on the T25 calendar for tomorrow and it says it’s “Total Body Circuit” sounds like I’m going to get the upper body workout that I was looking for.
