Focus T25 Workout Review Day 15 Total Body Circuit

This is my Focus T25 Workout Review Day 15 Total Body Circuit: This workout journey has proved to be challenging to stick to the schedule.  This is actually workout 15 not necessarily “day 15” of T25.  Going on Spring Break was a lot of fun, but it was not helpful with my workout routine.  Being away from T25 for a week really derailed me from my normal routine.  What I found to be challenging was also getting back to my routine after vacation because I spent the last week trying to catch up on work.

When I tried to do these workout videos in the past I probably would have given up by now.  But, do you know what was so amazing about this journal?  It was all the comments that I was receiving from people like you asking for updates and encouraging me to keep blogging to share my progress good or bad.

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 15 Total Body Circuit

I wish that I could share something new regarding this workout.  The only thing I can say is that my endurance and strength has definitely improved.  I remember my first week doing this workout I was in absolute pain, and struggled immensely to complete the workout.  But, I can feel my arms getting stronger and my legs becoming more flexible.  My wife has mentioned that she noticed some definition showing in my shoulders.

When I started this T25 workout journey, I mentioned that one of the motivators was my disgust when I looked in the mirror while trying on clothes at the mall.  I’m happy to say that I was shopping for some clothes at the mall today and I was actually somewhat pleased at my reflection.  I lost an inch off my waist and starting to see some definition all around.  I’m not where I want to be, but I’m so glad that I’m not where I was when I started.

One of the things that I have noticed since I have started working out is… the difference in lifestyle adjustments I have made.  I seek out ways to be active versus hiding at home and sitting on the couch watching TV.  Over the weekend my wife and I decided to go for a hike along the beach.  Yesterday we went for a walk for an hour after lunch.  This is totally unheard of because a couple months ago I could barely walk for 10 minutes without feeling exhausted.

I also make different decisions when it comes to food.  I do still eat fast-food but try to pick the healthier alternative.  When I go to McDonalds I order the chicken sandwhich, with no fries and water.  Before I would have ordered a Big Mac Meal with large fries and a soda.

I look at food differently because after doing a tough workout, I don’t want to go backwards and eat something bad.  It makes me feel that all my hard work will go to waste.

Thanks again for following this journey and wish you much success!

Focus T25 Workout Review Spring Break

This is my Focus T25 Workout Review during Spring Break : In my last blog post I mentioned that I was going on a Spring Break vacation with my family to Disney World.  It was going to be action-packed vacation for a week and visiting 5 theme parks in a row.  The itinerary was to fly on Sunday and check into our hotel.  Monday we were visiting the Magic Kingdom, Tuesday was Typhoon Lagoon, Wednesday the Animal Kingdom, Thursday was Epcot Center, Friday was Blizzard Beach and Saturday we were traveling back.  I packed my workout clothes and my T25 workout DVD’s and a portable DVD player.  I was set, ready to continue my fitness workouts even while on vacation.

We had a small hotel room that a living space that I could use to workout on and a big screen TV.  Yup!  I had a solid plan and the means to make it happen.  Well, things didn’t go accordingly to plan.  I’ll share below…

Focus T25 Workout Review Spring Break

So my original plans to work out the way I originally intended.  Sunday was my rest day according to the calendar so I wasn’t planning to workout.  Good thing I didn’t because we woke up at 3am to catch a 6am flight out of LAX.  The trip took us about 7 hours total which included a stop in Tennessee.  By the time we got our rental car, checked into our hotel, we were simply exhausted.  We grabbed dinner and called it a night for our adventures the next morning.

Monday 8am we woke-up to go to the Disney World.  It’s like Disneyland, but on steroids.  Everything is much bigger and grander… the rides, the themepark, the design etc.  Heck!  Disney World even had it’s own Freeway system… that’s how massive it was.  I was simply amazed at how organized the parks were…  There were people directing traffic, shuttles that would pick you up, people taking pictures, etc.  Long story short, we were at the park from 9am-11pm.  By the end of the night, I couldn’t walk anymore, my legs were tired.  I estimated that I walked about 20 miles that day while carrying a water pack.  (Did I mention that it was 90 degrees with 50% humidity).  By the time I got home I could not simply workout.  But, I sure felt like I did a workout.  But, I will say that there would have been no way that I could have lasted that long hadn’t I worked out to T25 prior to going to the trip.  My legs felt pretty strong standing and walking all day up until about 9pm.

I won’t bore you with all the details of the trip, but basically I couldn’t physically add a workout in even if I wanted to.  Doing 5 theme parks in a row and walking all day, everyday was a physical feat in itself.  I felt like I deserved a medal or something for accomplishing something so insane.  Everyday I stretched my legs, ate bananas, and took ibuprofen and iced my legs just to be able to make it through the next day.  If I could have done it all over again I wouldn’t have booked so many theme parks in a row.  I definitely needed a break in between.

I think that I probably walked about 60-80 miles throughout the entire trip.  It was an amazing family trip don’t get me wrong, but it definitely takes it’s toll physically on you.  I ate like I was on vacation, but I did split all my meals with my family.  Thus, we shared a burger, shared ice-cream, fries, funnel cake, etc.  I didn’t gain weight or lose weight because I think whatever I consumed I burned off pretty quickly.

I never originally planned this T25 journey to last exactly 60 days, but rather to incorporate it into my daily lifestyle.  My goal was to become more fit and tone-up.  I knew that it would be challenging to stick to the T25 workout schedule exactly especially since I have a full-time business and family.  But, I’m excited to get back on track tomorrow with the workout routines.

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 12 Lower Focus and Ab Intervals

This is my Focus T25 Workout Review Day 12 Lower Focus and Ab Intervals: I’m sorry but I hate Lower Focus and Ab Intervals day.  Not only is it a double day workout, but I’m not a fan of legs and abs.  Sorry if I’m not being motivational but I just wanted to be honest.  But, I did grind through the workout and simply did my best.  I didn’t do as many reps as the people in the video because I wanted to focus on form.  I kept saying to myself that if I get through this workout I’ll get rewarded with 2 days of rest.  It’s amazing to me to see the ongoing support for this documented journal.  I was thinking that people wouldn’t want to read it because they would rather read a journal from a fitness expert.  I think some people would prefer reading this because it’s “real” and not perfect, because lets face it most of us are not in athletic shape like Shaun T and in shape like he is.  Alright so let’s get to the good stuff… please check out my review of the workout below.

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 12 Lower Focus and Ab Intervals

As the infomercial states these workouts do not offer any rest.  When you click that play button it’s non-stop for 25 minutes so by the time workout is done I’m dripping in sweat.  Normally working out to Lower Focus and Ab Intervals is tough by itself but adding them together in one day is no joke.  I highly recommend you take some time to stretch out your legs really well before Lower Focus.  I would especially stretch out your quadriceps because it definitely burns during the workout.  I will say that before starting T25 I could not do alot of the movements shown in the video because I have a history of bad knees.  But, I’m happy to say that my leg muscles have gotten stronger as a result of T25 and I’m able to do jump routines and squats which I wasn’t able to do before.  I did try the “Insanity Workout Program” before and that workout program has more high impact moves.  I think that people might have complained on the amount of high impact moves in that workout program because there is definitely less impact movements in T25.  There are a lot of lunges and squats in T25 versus jumping.

The Ab Intervals workout is exactly as it sounds.  It’s all abs without the traditional situps, which I like.  It’s great to be able to workout core muscles without having to lay on your back all the time.  But, don’t get it twisted you will get a hardcore ab workout in this video.  Between planks, abdominal twists, and side legs that workout your obliques your abs will be good to go.

I’ve pretty much explained what to expect in these two workouts in my previous weeks blog posts.  But, what I like to add is I was able to do a double workout day, whereas in week 1 there was no way my body could handle it.  It’s all about the small wins and celebrating them!  I’m going to enjoy my two days off.

I have  a Spring Break vacation coming up so that is going to be a physical and mental challenge because I will have to force myself to find a time to workout while on vacation… darn.  Also, I will be very tempted to eat unhealthy food, because lets face it when you’re on vacation you want to splurge and enjoy yourself.  Thanks for following this journey.  Keep pushing play!

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 11 Cardio

This is my Focus T25 Workout Review Day 11 Cardio: It’s amazing how working out for 25 minutes a day can really change my day.  I have more energy, I’ve completely stopped drinking coffee (actually I still drink some because I like the taste), but what I mean is I don’t need coffee to get me fired up for the day.  I am sleeping like a bear hybernating for the winter… and I feel more better when I look in the mirror.

There are a couple big events coming up in the Spring and Summer to include a wedding and a trip to Orlando.  I wanted to be able to get in shape so that I can fit well in my clothes and finally get some definition in my body.

The thing I still struggle with on a daily basis is “What to eat?”  I’ve noticed that my metabolism is getting faster because I’m always hungry.  I’m trying not to reach for unhealthy snacks, but rather stuff like fruits, protein shakes, trail-mix, etc.

One thing that’s helped me stay on track is I block off certain times of the day to workout.  On Monday, Wednesday, Friday I work out at 8am, and on Tuesday and Thursday I workout on 12pm.  I make sure I don’t schedule any appointments, phone calls, meetings, etc during these times.  This allows me to not have an excuse not to push play and workout to T25.  So far this routine is workout out pretty good.  Thanks for everyone who has been leaving comments and encouraging me to not only keep workout but also keep blogging.  Hope you find this journal helpful.

Focus T25 Day 10 Speed 1.0

Focus T25 Workout Review Day 11 Cardio

Almost half way through T25 Alpha and I must say what a difference I feel in compared to day 1 of doing this same workout routine.  I remember day 1 I felt like I was going to die.  I could barely do any of the movements and I had to do all modified movements.  I was completely sore the next day and felt discouraged.  But, I’m happy to say that after completing today’s workout was not bad at all.  For the first time I was able to keep up with the video, I was able to do most of the workout without using modified movements, and I don’t feel sore afterwards.

What’s great about these workouts is after awhile you start to memorize the routine so you’re not able to do the movements but you’re also able to keep up with the cadence.  I remember thinking how uncoordinated I was the first week, but now I feel like I’m in the studio with Shaun T.  I still work up a sweat but not like in the beginning.

I think there will come a point where I need to do additional workouts to get the same amount of calorie burns.  I remember reading in P90X that you’re body gets use to the workouts so they become less effective.  I know this will change when I start the 2nd month of T25 Beta where I will be introduced to different and harder workouts.  So far feeling good that I’ve been able to stick with the program this far.  I’ve just been focusing on taking things day by day and not be obsessed with the weight scale.  Another day completed.  T25 Cardio NAILED IT!
